See this gal here, her name is Adele. She is awesome...full stop.

Adele and I have been chums for too many years to count. We knew each other when we didn’t even know each other, if you know what I mean. We have held each others hands through so many moments in each others lives. We hold each others hands when the other is in a far away land, we do not have to share the same physical space.

She is my go to lady. She is creative, intelligent and wise - beyond her years. In times of crisis, she is stoic and centred. In times of doubt, she is grounding and calm. In times of heartbreak, she is empowering and tender. In times of happiness and love, she is honest and encouraging.

When you know Adele, you know her mum, Beth. These two women are super important in my life. They have taught me more about myself than I can remember. They are strong force and together they are stronger.  Something I don’t really discuss too often is that day. If you have read this blog for a while, you probably know what I am referring to. It is still something I feel uncomfortable talking about and I guess I do most of the talking in this space.

Beth and Adele were the two people I called that day. It takes a super special kind of person to be present in that moment in ones life. So much rawness and vulnerability, I often have a pang of guilt for subjecting them to that moment, it was something they did not have to witness and I often think about the repercussions on Adele. I know it changed me forever and no doubt it changed her too. All this time has passed but still that moment is always in the front of my mind, especially when I see Adele.

Our friends are our family. We really don't have anyone other than interstate family and a sprinkling of cousins here and there. My children don't actually have any aunts or uncles - with the exception of Kdog's beautiful sister Enid, who lives on the other side of the country. Therefore my girlfriends take the place of the aunts. (I often imagine a whole bunch of us living in a beautiful old house by the sea, grey haired old biddies, rambling about the good old days - a la Practical Magic style- the crazy aunts.) My children absolutely love these women, their photo hangs in their bedroom. I would not and could not be the person I am and the person I want to become without their love and support, especially that of Adele.

Thanks for coming over yesterday darling lady. Thank you for the flowers. Thank you for doing the dishes. Thank you for kissing the babies. Thank you for tucking my sick sorry arse into bed.

What does one do on a wet and cold Thursday afternoon? Go up to the hills for wine and a roast lunch, that's what.

My dad's place is something else, you may have read about it here.

I hope you had a lovely Thursday too.

We rugged up early. Packed the camera and some snacks, and drove down to Broadway Beach. It was beyond cold and blustery, I let out a squeael as soon as I stepped out of the car. The sky turned a little grey whilst teeth chattered, so we settled for hot chocolates in the car. It was a beautiful way to start the day.

You know those magical days that you could not even plan if you wanted to? Well we had one of those days last Friday. Since Keith has left work I have noticed that twinkle that has been missing for so many years, is back baby!!!

We took the kids on a little trip down to Port Adelaide - my country. My Ma's side come from down that way and I absolutely love the place. It reminds me a lot of her. There are a whole stack of brilliant museums down there too. Here is our little visit to the Aviation Museum, as you can see my children are definitely not afraid of large machinery and get a thrill whizzing past old Spitfires and disarmed bombs. I realised one thing for sure, they aren't my little babies anymore.

Since I have started this business I have become so much more aware of design, composition and colour. I find great satisfaction in studying another persons creativity, in a way you are getting to know a whole new person, and it is fabulous.

Philippa has been a friend of a friend for years. We would always stop and have a chat, she would kiss the babies and I would gush over her amazing design talents. We recently bumped into each other and decided to collaborate on this little project.

Philippa has recently started up her own design and illustration business called Pip Design, specialising in prints and jewellery. Head over to her website to check out her beautiful work.
